Privacy
Afar Window collects no personal data. Neither app connects to any server run by the developer, and neither contains analytics, advertising or crash-reporting code.
What travels between the iPad and the Mac
While connected, the Mac's picture and sound go to the iPad, and the iPad's taps, gestures and typing go to the Mac. This data travels only between your iPad and your Mac, end-to-end encrypted. When they connect through a networking tool such as Tailscale, the data is still encrypted and the tool can't read it.
Clipboard: while connected, text copied on the Mac is sent to the iPad. The iPad's clipboard is sent to the Mac only when you tap the paste button.
Microphone: the iPad's microphone is used only when you turn it on or start dictation, and its sound goes only to the Mac you're connected to.
What stays on your devices
Afar Window on the iPad stores the Macs you add and their addresses, the identity key used for pairing (kept in the iPad's own Keychain), pinned apps, theme colours, action button settings, a cache of app icons, and how long you used each Mac each day. Usage time is counted only on the iPad and kept for 400 days.
Afar Window Host on the Mac stores the Mac's identity key, the devices paired with it, and its settings.
This data stays on each device and is never sent to the developer or anyone else. To remove it, see uninstalling on the support page.

This website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes request information such as visitors' IP addresses to serve it; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
The site sets one cookie, named lang, only when you pick a language, to remember your choice. It isn't used for tracking. The site has no analytics, advertising, or third-party scripts or fonts.
